Day 1098 Summer Fun
Another fantastic Friday night at the beach club! The Angelus Hall Band rocked the beach with a packed, sandy dance floor. Missy and Rick joined Tim and me for the night, finally checking out the fun I’ve been raving about all summer. I had suggested they meet us there in case they wanted to leave early—but they happily stayed until the end, dancing and carrying on like a bunch of teenagers.
My friend Jen wore the coolest dress: a sardine print with big lettering that spelled out “Sardines.” How fun! I immediately zoomed in on it, telling her I might need one just like it. She got it from Shein—that Chinese site that sells super inexpensive clothes. I suppose if I tried to order one now, I’d be wearing it at Christmas!
Before heading to the club, I picked up my grandson from work to give him a ride home. I’m still amazed that he’s old enough to be working—or that I’m old enough to have a grandchild who is! Either way, he’s working at a beach concession stand, so I eagerly waltzed onto the pavilion to see him in action, snapping photos like the proud Grammy I am. He greeted me with a hug and a kiss, and I just love that he still openly shows his Grammy love in public without hesitation. On the ride home, he told me all about his recent travels to Iceland with his family and how soon he'll be going back to school....heading into 9th grade!!
Traveling to Iceland would be fun but Tim and I have decided we’ll stay right here each summer, because honestly, there aren't many places that can rival the Rhode Island coastline for summer fun.
Nights like these remind me how lucky we are to live where we do, surrounded by good music, great friends, and beautiful ocean views. Here’s to squeezing out every last drop of summer before it slips away.
