Day 1107 Summer Sun
After a busy morning of cooking and serving up brunch for my crew, it was nice to spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach. I woke up later than usual—must’ve been all that dancing the night before—and had no time to spare, whipping up three different quiches, sausage, pancakes, fruit, and a bit of this and that before my kids and their families arrived.
It’s getting harder and harder to coordinate schedules for family dinners, so shifting to brunch now and then just works out better. I can’t believe the kids are already getting ready to go back to school. Labor Day festivities are breathing down my neck, and all I want is for summer to stretch just a little longer. Technically, it is still summer until September 22nd—and I’m going to roll with that.
My daughter and grandson joined Tim and me at the beach for the afternoon. When Tim decided to leave early to catch a band, I was more than happy to have an alternate ride home and skip going out. After such a full week and weekend, an early bedtime suited me just fine.
Of course, I couldn’t quite forget the kitchen sink full of dishes I had abandoned for the beach—no house elves to handle the mess while I soaked up the sun. I did my best to ignore it when I got home and headed straight for bed. Some tasks are better left for the morning.
The weekend always seems to fly by, and by Sunday night I’m usually trying to shift my mindset back to weekday mode. But with Labor Day around the corner, I’m looking forward to another long weekend—and maybe one more chance to savor the summer sun.
Here’s to soaking up what’s left of the season...for at least another month!! Oh how I love the Summer Sunshine!
