Day 1117 No low jack

Back to the beach for dinner on the deck—bundled up in sweatshirts and watching the early sunset. It’s getting cooler, but still just as beautiful. GHBC now closes at 6 p.m. (can't they give us a sunset?) during the week, except of course on Wednesdays, when the card players take over.

The few of us who sat out on the deck joked that they should change the name of the club from the Beach Club to the Card Club, since everything seems to revolve around cards. I don’t play High-Low-Jack, and watching the monotonous Wednesday night routine has honestly made me never want to. I just can’t do the same thing every week—no matter how much I like it.

I’d whipped up a quick dinner and packed it to eat on the deck. Next time, I think I’ll aim for takeout on the way home to avoid the hassle. Fortunately, GBC has trivia  Wednesday nights, giving us another midweek option for fun... but don’t expect to see us there every Wednesday!

Tim and I decided on a date night this weekend—just the two of us. A rare treat, and one that’s definitely overdue. We usually roll with a crowd whenever we go out, so Tim specifically requested a night alone.

Melissa was telling me about an article she read on social isolation and how many people struggle with it, quickly adding that it clearly wasn’t written about me. So Tim and I will “socially isolate” ourselves this weekend and enjoy some time together—although I’m guessing that being together doesn’t exactly count as isolating.

Maybe I’ll do some actual isolating on Saturday morning and clean the house... pretty sure no one will volunteer to join me for that. We’ll have to hope for a little rain over the weekend—apparently, as long as the sun is shining, I can come up with any excuse to walk away from the household messes.

Here’s to finding balance between routine and spontaneity, socializing and solitude, sunshine and staying in. Whatever the weekend brings, I’m just hoping for a little bit of everything—except maybe the cards. No-low-jack for this gal...I'd rather socially isolate!
