Day 1137 Forever Friends
Lifelong and Forever Friends
Oh, how I love these ladies! Being the youngest of four kids, I never had the chance to be a big sister—so these two gals are as close to little sisters as I’ll ever have. Erica now lives out of state, so when she comes to town, we make it a point to get together as much as possible.
We met for dinner, a rare treat for the three of us, and soaked in each other’s company as if we were kids again, laughing and telling silly stories. I met them right after my facial. It seems this week has turned into a bit of a tune-up week for me: dentist, dermatologist, facial, and pedicure... a mix of upkeep and diagnostics! Thankfully, everything is looking good health-wise. That darn dental implant is finally on its way to being complete within a month or so, and I can't wait.
The older we get, the more important it becomes to take care of ourselves. Although a facial may seem like a frivolous expense, maintaining healthy skin has always been a top priority for me. I just usually don’t pack so many appointments into one week!
I also broke out my flannel...embracing the fall season with a soft LL Bean shirt. The weather this time of year changes daily: warm one day, chilly the next. So while the flannel is in rotation, we’re still keeping a few summer outfits on hand, just in case.
With the focus this week on self-care, catching up with two of my oldest and dearest friends was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Moments like these remind me that true friendship is a form of self-care, too—comforting, grounding, and deeply nourishing. Here's to more laughs, more stories, and more flannel-filled fall days ahead....maybe even another summery day or two!
