Day 1156 80's style

Fall décor is going up, centerpieces are on display, and soon enough I’ll have mums filling pots inside and out. It’s the perfect time of year to cozy up on cool nights, make dinner at home, and embrace the season to the fullest. Heck, I may even go apple picking and bake an apple pie soon.

Tim has been requesting my home-cooked beef tacos, so I made it a point to pick up all the fixings and make his dream come true. As we sat down to eat the delicious meal, I had to give a nod to his selection—so good! I only wish I’d had the energy to clean up the kitchen afterward, but those dishes had to wait until morning.

Lately, I’ve been wracking my brain over what to serve for the baby shower luncheon my daughter and I are throwing for Bridie. We love the idea of an old-school shower at home—80’s style—where a small group of family and friends can gather, enjoy homemade appetizers and treats, and actually take the time to see each gift. These days, showers of all sorts have become such big, formal events—a far cry from the cozy celebrations of years past.

Technically, this isn’t a traditional baby shower; it’s a “sprinkle” since it will be Bridie’s third baby—another sweet grandson heading our way. Tim and I sure do have a gaggle of grandsons; this new little one will make number five! He’s due right around Thanksgiving, and even though this will be our sixth grandchild, the excitement never gets old. We can’t wait to meet him.

I’m not sure I’ll decorate the house with a traditional baby theme this time. I might just go all out with festive fall décor and Halloween touches—Bridie’s favorite.

As the days get shorter and the air turns crisp, I’m embracing how special these moments are. Family, food, and a little seasonal magic have a way of making everything feel warm and full of love. Here’s to a beautiful fall and another sweet baby to celebrate soon.....and a home cooked meal here and there without worrying about dishes.
