Day 1166 HR Puffnstuf

My first photo taken with HR Pufnstuf

If you weren’t around in the late ’60s, you may be blissfully unaware of the song Oranges Smoranges or the kids’ variety show H.R. Pufnstuf altogether! (I’ve added a hyperlink....you’re welcome.)

Well, I’m keeping my orange phone… for now, but I’ll be referring to it as HR Pufnstuf from here on out! When I arrived home, I had a new phone case waiting for me and quickly slipped HR Pufnstuf into it, concealing most of the orange with a sleek black cover. Ahh, much better.

I had several packages waiting, one filled with baby shower decorations, or should I say DIY decorations! Each one had to be painstakingly assembled, but thankfully Tim sat down with his DIY expertise and helped with all the tassels while I busily worked on the pom-poms. My plan is to have one nice focal point of “baby splash,” and it’s coming together nicely...only a bit more assembly to go!

We spent over an hour crafting our paper pretties—twisting, tying, and puffing up tissue paper into pom-poms, stringing lettering, and deciphering the directions. The groceries had also arrived about half an hour before I got home, keeping Tim busy with chores. Not his favorite, but he’s a good sport and took it all on without complaint.

He’s even agreed to switch phones with me when we have time to make it happen—but only if I title my blog “Spoiled.” It might be worth it for me! For now, I’m enjoying HR, and once you click on that hyperlink, you won’t be able to forget what you see… that song somehow enters your soul. Interesting that adults thought that was entertainment for kids, not sure if we were scared, confused, entertained or a combination of all three but we all watched it and remember it to this day!

As for me, I’ll be humming it while I finish up those decorations and get ready for the shower...and Putting together a Halloween costume in the middle of it all!! Here’s to a weekend of color, creativity, and a little strange nostalgia—courtesy of HR Pufnstuf and a bright orange phone that refuses to be ignored.
