Day 1181 Three Little Birds
"Don’t Worry About a Thing, ’Cause Every Little Thing’s Gonna Be Alright"
Thank you, Bob Marley, for reminding me of this, and Marhsalls for this beautiful brass tabletop statue of three little birds to remind me every day! Sure, I needed it like I need a hole in my head, but it’s already earned its keep by making me smile every time I walk through my living room, with the song lyrics echoing in my mind when I see it.
I suppose everything is alright in the end, but sometimes getting through the storm to reach the calm takes everything we’ve got. I’ve been through trying times and my fair share of good and bad, but I always choose to walk on life’s sunny side of the street. Call me a foolish optimist, but that’s just how I roll.
Back in the day, my friend Libby used to say I could fall in a pile of poop and come out smelling like a rose. I don’t think that’s true, but it’s interesting how others perceive us from the outside. One sure thing about difficult times is that they never last... thank goodness!
It’s not my intention to get all cryptic here with some hidden message. Life is pretty darn good. My blog rule is to never talk about work, because that’s not my real life — it’s just what I do to support my real life. I'll just say, by the end of this month I’ll either have a promotion or get fired. Either way, I’m sure things will work out as they should. Somehow, they always do! Time will tell if Libby was right!
I love having the weekend to regroup, and lucky me, there was a big pop-up consignment sale over in Newport. It only happens once a year, so I grabbed my friend Megan and we headed over the bridge for a little treasure hunt and retail therapy. I came out a winner (take that, Libby!) after finding an absolutely fabulous sequin cocktail dress with the tags still on. It just happened to be in my size.... and according to Tim, my new color — bright metallic orange! I needed it about as much as I needed that bronze statue, but holy cow, is it fabulous! I paid $65, kind of pricey for this thrifty gal, but with the original tag reading $395, I figured I could splurge. Now i just need a fancy party!! I also picked up a super preppy Talbots blazer, shopping for my two worlds: daytime work mode and fun mode, very different vibes.
In the end, life’s a rollercoaster. Try to fill the slow moments with joy, and always have someone to hold on to when it gets scary.
And when the ride feels a little wild, just remember Bob’s words — every little thing really is gonna be alright. So keep smiling, keep dancing, and keep finding your own little birds to remind you how good life can be....cause it really is pretty wonderful...even with the ups and downs.
