Day 1187 Tandem

 

Twelve years ago in Mexico… might be time to plan another vacation! Tim and I have certainly had our fair share of fun trips and adventures, but there’s no need to stop now. This trip was planned on a whim, neither of us had a destination in mind, so I headed to my travel agent for advice. I love asking her to come up with three surprise trips and then choosing from the list. I’m not sure I even remember what the other two options were, but this week-long stay at an all-inclusive in Playa del Carmen quickly became our number-one choice.

It was also an amazing deal, so good that Tim suggested we just move in and live there. With all our food, drinks, and entertainment right on-site, why leave? We met fantastic friends during that trip, many of whom are still my Facebook friends today, and we still enjoy retelling some of our funniest adventures.

One adventure I could have skipped was when Tim and I headed out in a tandem kayak… ugh. We had been sitting on the beach watching couples paddle around, envious of how much fun they seemed to be having, so we decided to give it a try. Well, once we were out on the water, all we did was argue about who should paddle on which side—each of us trying to prove we were the more experienced boater. I remember laughing to myself at the thought of people on the beach watching us, imagining how carefree and happy we must have looked, when in reality, if it hadn’t been for the fear of sharks, I would have jumped out and swum back to shore. Tim and I have never stepped foot in a tandem kayak again… probably why we’re still married.

Once we were back on the beach, all was right with the world again in our little slice of paradise. Paddles packed away with neither of us envious of kayakers again. Looks like I may need to visit my travel agent again… can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! Maybe it’s time for a new stamp in the passport....and a few more stories worth laughing about in another twelve years....just no bicycles built for two please.
