Day 1198 Home
Staying inside Mohegan Sun for a couple of days is like being thrown into a vault. It’s impossible to know what time it is or what the weather is doing outside—whether the sun is shining or not. It’s a strange world all its own, a tiny little casino universe. It’s a fun place to stay for a short trip, but after a while, I need sunshine and fresh air.
I was so happy Tim came to stay the night with me. He and I were able to enjoy breakfast together before he headed home and I went back into the last day of my conference. I attended workshops all day, visited vendors, and joined the awards luncheon before finally stepping back outside, into the real world, to head home. The sunshine hitting my eyes after two days inside sure felt good.
I bet the casinos are packed during a blizzard—it would be the perfect place to hunker down! Meanwhile, the big news in the real world was Bridie going into the hospital to have her baby… yay! The anticipation of baby news is always so exciting. Somehow, once babies arrive, they’re immediately woven into the fabric of our family, and it’s hard to imagine life without them.
After a whirlwind couple of days indoors, returning to fresh air and family updates felt grounding and comforting. Conferences and casinos are fun in their own way, but there’s nothing quite like stepping back into the rhythm of real life. Here’s to sunshine, new babies, and the simple joys waiting for us at home. There's really no place like home!
