Day 2150 Rockstar
Ahh… another throwback pic. This one isn’t because I had to post it, but because it brought back such fun memories. Although my darn phone still isn't working with me. Advice of the day, if/when you see a bathtub of this size… jump in!! Throwing back to twelve years ago...wasn’t that just yesterday?
Tim and I partied like rock stars in the penthouse suite at Mohegan Sun. Yes, of course there’s a story behind every image, and this one would be way too long for a single blog post, so I’ll do my best to hit the highlights.
A friend of mine was featured on Undercover Boss, a show that used to disguise upper-level executives and send them into entry-level positions so they could see and hear what employees were really doing and saying, aka spying, but in a fun way. When the show premiered, we all gathered in the penthouse at Mohegan. This friend just happened to be the big boss there. I know… I have cool friends.
We weren’t sure if the penthouse would even be available, Jay-Z was supposed to stay there, but his schedule changed, so we were in. We watched the show, dazzled by Bruce’s TV debut, eating, drinking, and feeling on top of the world, and most of us where… well, maybe everyone except Tim.
Poor Tim was in between surgeries for kidney stones and was sporting a tube in his belly to drain one before heading back into the hospital. I wasn’t going to miss out on the night, so I told him he could either stay home or suck it up and come with me...no complaints allowed. (My mean-girl showing, I know.) He was an absolute trooper. No one would have known he was in pain as he played bartender and partied right along with everyone.
Some friends of mine happened to be at the casino to see John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band perform in the Wolf Den and were texting me to join them… not a chance. Instead, I invited them up to the penthouse, and from there we met John and his wife (yes, the lead singer... I’m friends with cool people) at the High Rollers Lounge. We all carried on and didn’t leave until well after 2 a.m… yikes!
It was one of those nights that couldn’t be replicated if we tried. The stars aligned perfectly, everyone was exactly where they were supposed to be, and outrageous fun was had by all. I know I sound like a who’s-who, name-dropping bragger… but hey, sometimes the shoe just fits! So color me a rock star....at least for one unforgettable night.
And oh… if I felt sick the next day, it definitely wasn’t from all the cocktails. Clearly, it was the bad shrimp.
