Day 2179 Valentine

Love was in the air for Valentine’s Day, complete with a romantic dinner by the ocean. Truth be told, Tim and I lounged around the house most of the day, watching the birds, chatting about the latest Nancy Guthrie updates and offering our own theories. We had groceries delivered and didn’t officially get dressed until it was time to head out for dinner.

I made reservations at our beach club since we were both craving sea air and an ocean view. The chef outdid himself, and we were more than happy to benefit from all his hard work. I was thrilled to get one of the best tables in the house... and soak in the ocean views throughout dinner.

I posted a photo of us on Facebook and, among all the love and likes, received one comment from a woman telling me how great I always look, then wondering why Tim is always in jeans and asking if he owns dress pants. (Rude.)

I responded as kindly as I could muster, explaining that he does, in fact, own other pants, but prefers jean, and I love that about him. We get to rock our own vibe. He doesn’t style me, and I don’t style him… even though that’s not entirely true...we all know I'd love to style him more often.  But my point was made.

Maybe she was having a bad Valentine’s Day and wanted to throw a little shade at mine by picking on my husband. But that will never fly with me. I thought Tim looked perfect in his jeans and red sweater, handsome, confident and happy!

As for me, I struggled with what to wear. With a little (or more than a little) winter weight creeping up on me, I felt like Mr. Incredible trying to squeeze into dresses. I tried about a dozen before finding one that didn't make me look or feel like a sausage. It’s high time to get my body back in check before spring sets in. Amazing how fast it creeps up and how much we think we can hide under big winter sweaters!

At the end of the day, though, none of that really mattered. What mattered was sitting across from the man I love, laughing over dinner with the sound of the waves in the background. Jeans, dresses, sweaters or whatever.... love is what makes the whole picture beautiful, And I'll keep my jean wearing Valentine, thank you very much.
