Making moves

Ok, first off—that’s a gorgeous cat!

Our sweet basement cat has been making moves and coming out more and more… although she’s still residing in the basement. With two chairs side by side, she naps comfortably on one while Tim or I (usually Tim) sit in the other. She’s been demanding more attention these days and even perched herself on the armrest to get some love, very close to jumping over into the same chair. She now swats Tim if he’s not paying attention, letting him know she needs to be pet.

I don’t even mind that she’s not exploring the rest of the house much. She has all she needs in the comfort of the basement family room, and she’s close to her hiding spot. One of these days she’ll expand her geographic territory, but all is well for now. But seriously....isn’t she a beauty?

I will commend Tim on his patience and all the time he’s put into letting her come to him on her own terms. He and I both agree that she has bonded with him more than with me, even though I’m the one who feeds her, cleans her litter box, and brings her treats and toys! Isn’t that the way? Tim’s the fun guy, the one who shines the laser pointer for her to chase, sits quietly, walks softly, and never turns down her requests for attention. He’s a softy like that, even pleading for leniency for the egg-eating chicken! It looks like we’re in a good cop/bad cop scenario, and I’m clearly the bad cop.

On another note, Tim’s training is on, with less than a week before his big run. Why on earth does he make such bold statements? Apparently, he said he could roll out of bed and do a mile in 11 minutes… what the heck! Our minds are wonderful in their ability for delusion… although I wouldn’t count him out yet. He’s got a determined (stubborn) streak that could carry him through. Either way, this may have been exactly what he needed to get back into shape, so maybe he’s already won that bet after all. 

We’ll see how it all plays out, but one thing’s for sure, between the cat’s slow and steady progress and Tim’s last-minute determination, there’s never a dull moment around here. Stay tuned… I have a feeling there will be more updates (and maybe a few surprises) soon..... fingers crossed.
