Go-Getter

And so it begins: backhoe work complete (with a professional operator), weed barrier laid, edges trimmed, and stone delivered. It seems my birthday outburst was all it took to light a fire under Tim and get him moving on the task. He’s been working hard to keep the project progressing, even spreading some of the stone after work and realizing just how much lies ahead.

Once the rock is spread, then comes the sand. The brick laying might be the most rewarding part—finally seeing it all come together. I’m eager to have my patio space back, to set up a little table and sip my coffee next to my chickens on weekend mornings. Heck, I may even plant a few shrubs, do a bit of landscaping, and pull us out of the “ghetto” vibe.

Household projects never seem to end, inside or out… who can keep up?

The weather hasn’t warmed up enough yet to sit outside for long, but its coming...hopefully. We’ve got rain in the forecast and cool temps for now, but I know that once it shifts, it will be instantly hot, and I can’t wait. I want all the windows open, a breeze rolling through the house, fresh air seeping into every corner...and my beach days back!

I’m curious to see if our basement cat will enjoy sitting in the sunshine of an open window. She seems afraid of all the outside noises now, but I’m hoping she gets used to them. She sat at the door the other day watching Tim work outside, so I’d say that’s progress.

Tim has been on a roll, working on the patio, calling to change our oil company, replacing the fridge at the Green Hill house… a real go-getter. I’m not sure if this is "temporary Tim" or if he’s turning over a new leaf, but I’ll take it while it lasts.

If nothing else, this project feels like a perfect step towards spring, one stone at a time. And maybe, by the time the patio is finished, we’ll both be ready to actually sit still and enjoy it, without a host of projects looming .... imagine that?!
