Organization

Well, one thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was washing and organizing cabinets.

It all started with me cleaning the photos off my refrigerator. Then I wiped down the fridge, which somehow carried over to the cabinets, top to bottom, scrubbing away the winter yuck. Once I moved inside the cabinets, I discovered a bit of a disaster: everything crammed in with little rhyme or reason.

In my defense, the cabinets are always a challenge for me. I can only easily reach the bottom shelf unless I drag over my step stool, so whatever ends up on the top two shelves tends to stay there until absolutely necessary. Well… challenge accepted.

I climbed up on the counter, emptied each cabinet, scrubbed everything down, and carefully put things back in some semblance of order. Along the way, I tossed anything expired, and somehow, there always seems to be something expired. Old spices, forgotten pantry items… all into the trash.

I’m not sure how long this newly organized system will last, but for today, it looks great.

My original goal was simply to clear off the fridge and tidy the counters a bit, just enough to make my weekly cleaning routine easier. Anything to give me more beach time. But isn’t that how these projects always go? One little task snowballs into a much bigger one.

Now if I could only do this in every nook and cranny of the house. That might take a month of Sundays. But like anything else, small victories are worth celebrating.... all in good time.

The weather was cold, rainy, and windy, really, the perfect day for cleaning. Once the sun comes out, any remaining mess can wait for another day.
