Waiting

Waiting on the warmth and sunshine… my new chair cushions haven’t even seen the light of day yet. With more rain in the forecast, it looks like I’ll be waiting a bit longer.

Spring in New England is always a fickle friend, giving us a few warm teaser days before shifting right back to cold and rain. Here we are, closing in on June, and aside from a warm day here and there, we’re still hunkered down inside.

Even my flowers seem to be struggling without enough sunshine.

Maybe it’s Mother Nature’s way of telling me I need to clean my house… removing every temptation to ignore it all and head outside to play. I’m pretty sure I even had a dream about having my cleaning lady back in rotation. A gal can dream.

Maybe I’ll listen to Mother Nature, get my house in order, and be rewarded with a sunny day. Fingers crossed.

With just Tim and me in the house, it’s amazing how quickly things still become a mess. He’s certainly not one to clean. I’m having a hard enough time convincing him to pick up after himself, but I can’t say I’m much better on the daily.

The difference is, when it’s time for a thorough weekend cleaning, Tim suddenly finds something immensely important he needs to do… somewhere far away from the vacuum.

We’re going to have to get on some sort of cleaning schedule before summer sets in and we’re both too focused on beach days to care.

I’m usually up at the crack of dawn and can get most of the cleaning done before he even wakes up. I’m still not sure what time of day, if there even is one, he’d willingly choose to tackle the never-ending list of household chores.

One thing I do know for sure: the next warm, sunny morning, I’ll be sitting outside at my new table, coffee in hand, soaking up the sunshine without a care in the world.

“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
