Dinner with a view

An ocean view at sunset amazes me every single time I have the privilege of experiencing it. Honestly, enjoying a delicious dinner on the deck while the sun slowly disappeared beyond the horizon was about as close to a perfect evening as you can get.
Sorry Tim had to miss it, but he was off living his best life listening to live music at the Ocean Mist, leaving the fine dining to Betsy and me. She had been teaching Mahjong in town, so it seemed like the perfect excuse for us to sneak away for dinner, play a few games, and enjoy an impromptu evening at my beach club.
The day had already been packed from start to finish. It began with bringing my grandson to work... at the beach, of course! Then it was a quick drive to the airport for a drop-off before Tim and I headed back to the shoreline for an afternoon of sunshine. With a day like that, it only seemed fitting to end it exactly where it began, with dinner overlooking the ocean.
Yes, I love the seashore more than your average human.
The waves were rolling in with enough force to make swimming a bit of a challenge, and the water was cold... just the way I like it. Even Tim surprised me by taking a quick dip before calling it a day. There's something about hearing the waves crash, feeling the salty breeze, and watching the sun sparkle across the water that never gets old, no matter how many times I experience it.
And just like that, another weekend disappeared. It feels like I barely have time to regroup before it's Monday morning eve all over again. Even harder to believe, August is right around the corner, reminding us just how quickly our New England summers slip away.
So grab the sunshine while you can. Swim in the ocean, even if it's a little chilly. Stay for the sunset. Linger a little longer with family and friends. Once we're bundled up again for another long winter, these are the moments we'll replay in our minds, warming us from the inside out until summer returns.... because, thankfully, it always does!
"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." ~ Jacques Cousteau
